1. Fuel is automatically fed to your craft commensurate with your degree of control.
2. It is the Hijacker who is concerned with spares, reserves, contingency and so on.
3. If the pilot is in contact with control room or ground control, his fuel requirements are automatically drawn by the craft at whatever time or place. 
4. Feeling the lack of something or other shows that the pilot is wandering away from the control room and that the Hijacker is in charge.
