People very often remember or call on GOD when they are in a difficulty and in a miserable mood. Just as Pavlov's dogs salivate when they hear a bell, so too this class of bhaktas get tears and develop a miserable face when they utter or hear the name of God. Krishna, Ramakrishna and Aurobindo had sometime or other drawn attention to this. It is amusing to hear most melancholy songs in a tearful voice addressed to Krishna, the Lord of Delight.

There is no harm, and something to be gained by paying heed to Pavlov and his dogs when practising the tantra of Bhakti!
