WORSHIP OF TRAFFIC LIGHTS

A driver looks at the red light and prays, "Oh, venerable, sacred almighty Red Light, save me from accidents.” He drives headlong and the result is anybody's guess.

The useful procedure is to remember that the Red Light is a signal of operational value to the body. The body has learnt that seeing the Red Light means an instruction to the body to modify its behaviour towards a desired end. Else, the Red Light is practically useless.

Praying to a god or guru without the slightest significance for the behaviour of the body is almost similar in effect. Unless the calling of the God or Guru is translated into an operationally meaningful instruction to the body, miracles will continue to occur occasionally and accidents more often.

The driver who prays to the Red Light, the person who bows to the doctor and swallows pills and the devotee who calls on his God or Guru without the slightest idea of what his own body is to do in the matter are in the same boat - they have converted their bodies into its native, and differentiated mud.
