SERVICE YOUR CAR - Part VIII

When a man says that he has understood Krishna or Christ or Buddha or Aurobindo, he means that he has quite successfully translated the thought from these sources into his own language - that is brought them down to the level of the marketplace with its currency of established values. This gives no room for anything new.

Nothing new can ever be understood. The only way is for the body to be asked to implement for a few minutes at least some saying of the Masters which is likely to be resisted by his customary behaviour. Only in overcoming such resistance will his body learn - not verbally understand - what has been said. You can understand all about swimming by reading an encyclopedia of swimming or by massaging the feet of great swimmers. You can only learn swimming by jumping into the water!

The value of silence has been much spoken of. However, it is good to remember that speech is our most valuable asset, power and medium of interaction. To become aware of the potentialities, limitations and dangers of this power in your daily interactions, and to become more and more adept and accurate in its use is more necessary and useful to you than years of search for silence. Searching for silence is the most noisy action possible.
